The kids in my class love Alexander Hamilton. Well, they love Alexander Hamilton: The American Musical.  The popularity of the musical on Broadway and it’s run at the Paramount in Seattle has had a huge impact on the 3rd and 4th graders in my class. Some are picking up biographies of Hamilton, some are debating the facts about the Founding Fathers, and others are making connections to our Lewis & Clark curriculum. And some are simply just enjoying belting out the songs.  As a history buff and teacher, I am delighted that my students are showing interest in history. I’m looking forward to more historical musicals that capture the attention of elementary schoolers.
